Dog policy

Dog policy

Dogs are welcome!

On Holiday Park De Kuilart dogs are allowed almost everywhere, but there are some rules. Moreover, we hope you understand that these apply to all dogs regardless of how friendly or trained your dog is.

Dog policy

  • First of all you are required to register your dog at the reception.
  • In addition, one dog is allowed per camping pitch, berth or accommodation (for a fee).
  • However, dogs are allowed everywhere. Except on pitches 288 through 353 and the following accommodations: Veranda Bungalows 55 through 63, all Holiday Home De Kuilart, the Water Villas 13 through 19 and 27 through 33, all Pavilion Apartments and the Waterchalets (with the exception of Waterchalet 32, 33 and 44).
  • Dogs are not allowed on the playground.
  • Dogs are not allowed to swim at both beaches of Holiday Park De Kuilart. On the other hand, it is allowed in the rest of the harbour.
  • Dogs are allowed in the Grand Café and on the terrace.
  • Dogs must be kept on a short leash at all times. And they must always be accompanied. Please do not leave your dog alone in your boat, caravan, tent or accommodation.
  • If a dog bites someone for any reason, the dog must leave the park immediately.
  • The dog must be walked outside the park. You must always carry a shovel (available free of charge at the reception desk) or a dog waste bag with you. If the dog does shit in the park, we expect you to clean it up. This also applies outside the park. We certainly do not appreciate it if other guests or residents of the park are bothered by the droppings of your dog!

* Large dogs such as Rottweilers, Bouviers and Dobermanns and similar fighting and security dogs (except a shepherd dog) are not allowed on the holiday park.

Dog areas in the vicinity of De Kuilart

  • Dog forest Oudemirdum: it is an area of about 20 hectares between the campsite De Waps and the Beukenlaan in Oudemirdum. Elfbergen is the only forest area in Gaasterland where dogs are allowed to run free and is therefore very popular with dog owners from the wide area.
  • Lemmer dog beach: Between 1 October and 30 April, dogs are allowed to run free on the entire beach.  In the summer months (between 1 May and 30 September) dogs are only allowed on the dog beach. Here dogs can run, swim and romp all year round. Please note that it is compulsory to clean up after your dogs, so that other users are not inconvenienced by your dogs.
  • Dog beach Harlingen:  A beautiful recreational beach with a view of the harbour and the Wadden Sea (so salt water). Between 1 September and 1 May, dogs are allowed to run, swim and romp freely here. After 1 May dogs are allowed, but then they must be on a leash.
  • Dog beach Makkum: on the beach there is a small leash area and a beautiful piece of beach (about 1 km) with a beautiful view over the IJsselmeer. Between 1 October and 15 April dogs are allowed on the beach (on a leash), after that the beach is forbidden for dogs.
